Bratislava, December 5 (TASR) - Only a naive person would be prone to believe that the discussion that was held within LS-HZDS party on Saturday would be held in a different tone than was eventually the case, MP Milan Urbani told TASR on Saturday.
He was speaking in the wake of a decision made by HZDS's Republic Board earlier the day. The Board decided to expel Urbani from the party, justifying the move by Urbani's involvement in the newly-established European Democratic Party (EDS).
Urbani added that he would call a press conference next week. "I believe that, after my 10-year-long tenure in the party, my (former) fellow party members as well as my followers deserve it. I will respond to questions regarding my future, my ideas," he said.
He wouldn't comment on whether he's planning to give up his MP mandate and return it to HZDS.
Speaking on November 20, HZDS chairman Vladimir Meciar called on Urbani to leave the party voluntarily or else the party's gremium will submit a proposal for his ouster. According to Meciar, the reason for Urbani's expulsion was his involvement in the building up of EDS's structures.
