Brussels, May 18 (TASR) - The European People's Party (EPP) would this month hold roundtable discussions to settle disputes over the bill amending dual citizenship legislation in Hungary that was submitted to Parliament there by the Fidesz - Christian Democratic People's Party coalition, Slovakia's opposition SDKU party leaders said after negotiations with EPP chairman Wilfried Martens the next day.
"We proposed to organise the roundtable discussions of all EPP members parties including SDKU and Fidesz and try and have this meeting as soon as possible. A misunderstanding or misstep are supposed to be handled by negotiations and subsequent search for a solution," said SDKU election leader Iveta Radicova.
On Monday Slovak MEP Eduard Kukan expressed his concern over the unilateral Hungarian decision to enact a bill which substantially softens the criteria for Slovak citizens to obtain Hungarian citizenship.
