Direct Flights From Bratislava to Warsaw Possible Again as of Monday

Bratislava, May 17 (TASR) - Bratislava's Milan Rastislav Stefanik Airport is connected to the Polish capital Warsaw as of Monday thanks to direct flights operated by LOT Polish Airlines.

Passengers will be able to fly daily apart from on Saturdays - at 11.45 a.m. from Warsaw and at 1.45 p.m. from Bratislava. LOT also points out that Slovaks will gain good access to flights to Canada and the U.S.A. as well. The airline offers direct links from Warsaw to Toronto, Chicago and New York. It also provides flights to around 40 destinations within Europe and two to the Middle East - to Beirut and Tel Aviv.

LOT provided a direct air-link between Bratislava and Warsaw in the past - as of 2002, but this was cancelled around four years ago. Increasing ticket sales in Slovakia - rising by 7 percent in 2009 - have persuaded the airline to re-introduce the route.

Last year was a complicated one for BTS, which lost two of its main carriers. Low-cost Slovak-based airline SkyEurope - BTS's second biggest client - declared bankruptcy in the autumn, while another Slovak airline Seagle Air followed suit shortly after.
