Kia Motors Presents Engine Plant to Premier Fico

Teplicka nad Vahom, May 14 (TASR) - South Korean car-maker Kia Motors gave visiting Slovak Premier Robert Fico a tour of its currently-under-construction second engine plant in Teplicka nad Vahom (Zilina region) on Friday.
In-Kyu Bae, president of Kia Motors' Slovak unit, said that the construction of the plant, which will help increase engine output in Slovakia, will continue well into early next year.
Spokesman Dusan Dvorak added that serial production could begin towards the end of next year after trial runs in the first quarter. The premier in his remarks encouraged Kia to tap Slovakia's knowledge potential including researchers, electronic systems and software engineers. He pledged the Government's strong support for the company's activities.
Kia Motors' total investment in the plant-building and technologies amounts to €100 million and is expected to create 270 new jobs.
The South Korean car firm employs more than 2,800 people in Slovakia, manufacturing the Kia cee'd in three versions as well as the Hyundai ix35 as of this year.
