Businessmen Present Wish List to Political Parties

Bratislava, May 14 (TASR) - Businessmen in Slovakia have presented their so-called Wish List 2010, which contains the most important requirements of the business sector, and sets out the key priorities for boosting the business environment in the country.

The ten points in the Wish List include the need to sustain Slovakia's macroeconomic stability via cutting the public finance deficit and a repeated appeal for an improvement in law enforcement and the speeding up of court proceedings in Slovakia.

In addition, lowering the levy burden and simplifying the levy system should improve the overall environment for doing business. An effective fight against corruption and the electronisation of communications with official bodies are also among the measures that need to be taken in order to improve matters.

The document, compiled under the auspices of the Business Alliance of Slovakia (PAS) and the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), is addressed to all 18 political parties running in the June 12 general election, PAS executive director Robert Kicina told TASR.

According to Kicina, PAS is calling on political parties to publicly declare their stances on the contents of the Wish List, as well as towards the business environment in general, as business activities contribute considerably to job creation and the country's gross domestic product.
