Fico to Summon Security Council Over Hungary's Dual Citizenship Law

Bratislava, May 14 (TASR) - The Slovak Security Council will be summoned in response to the law on dual citizenship that may well be approved by the Hungarian Parliament on Friday, Prime Minister Robert Fico announced at a press conference after an extraordinary session of the Slovak Government on Friday morning.
According to Fico, the law in question will probably have effects that will extend beyond Hungary and could create real security risks.
In addition, the Foreign Affairs, Interior and Defence Ministries should promptly draw up an analysis on the security risks arising from the law. As soon as the legislation is approved in the Hungarian Parliament, the given ministers should submit proposals for legislative changes that would minimise the risks for Slovakia.
The Cabinet will then ask Parliamentary Chairman Pavol Paska to summon a parliamentary session to deal with the proposals via fast-tracked legislative proceedings.
Fico said that the Government isn't against MPs collecting the required 30 signatures to summon their own session, but pointed out that they can only adopt declarations at such a session and not pass laws via fast-tracked legislative proceedings.
