Bratislava, May 13 (TASR) - Slovakia's inflation rate stood at 0.4 percent month-on-month in April, bringing the annual rate to 1.3 percent, which was last seen in August 2009, the Slovak Statistics Office said on Thursday.
Core inflation, which excludes the effects of administrative measures such as hikes in regulated prices and excise taxes, and net inflation (core inflation adjusted for changes in fuel prices) both stood at 1.5 percent.
In the January-April period, inflation reached 0.7 percent on the year.
Inflation in Slovakia slowed between September 2008-November 2009 falling from 5.4 percent to 0.5 percent. It accelerated to 0.6 percent in December, but fell back to 0.4 percent in the first month of 2010. It remained flat in February, but rose to 0.8 percent in March.
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco were the fastest-growing sector in April, while furniture prices were the biggest decliners.
