Budapest/Bratislava, May 13 (TASR) - Slovakia on Wednesday evening summoned its Ambassador in Hungary Peter Weiss for consultations concerning a legislative amendment on dual citizenship prepared by the Hungarian Parliament, Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Peter Stano told TASR on Thursday.
At a meeting with Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak in Bratislava on Wednesday, Janos Martonyi, who has been nominated by the FIDESZ party for the post of Hungarian foreign affairs minister in the new Hungarian Government, refused to submit the prepared legislative amendment for consultation.
"As the legislative amendment on dual citizenship should also concern Slovak citizens, we've summoned our Ambassador Peter Weiss from Budapest to Bratislava to analyse the situation," said Stano. According to him, this is a standard way of communicating with an ambassador, which, however, signals a certain level of concern or the existence of problems in bilateral relations.
