Ten Slovak Hooligans and One Czech to Appear Before Hungarian Court

Bratislava/Budapest, May 12 (TASR) - The Hungarian police are reported to be putting 11 arrested football fans before the Municipal Court in Encs, a town in north-eastern Hungary, on Thursday, following disturbances linked to the Slovak Cup final on Tuesday.
The case, involving 111 fans, of which ten Slovaks and one Czech ended up facing criminal charges, is therefore going to be fast-tracked by the Hungarian authorities, Bertalan Gasko from the Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen regional police headquarters confirmed for TASR on Wednesday.
The police in Encs on Tuesday arrested the hooligans on the same day as the Slovak Cup final in the eastern Slovak town of Michalovce after they attacked vehicles and sprayed swastikas in two lay-bys near the town.
"Eleven people were taken into custody. In line with Hungarian laws, we can detain them for 72 hours. They have been charged with group hooliganism," said Gasko.
Another 100 people were released after the police interrogated them. In addition, three fans were fined for not having identification documents on them. One was Slovak, while another was Ukrainian with a residency permit issued by the Slovak authorities.
