SaS: Fico Should Collect Money from Smer Voters to Fund Greek Loan

Bratislava, May 10 (TASR) - Prime Minister and Smer-SD party chairman Robert Fico's election campaign should include a collection of money from his voters to fund the planned loan for debt-ridden Greece, as this would prevent him from putting future generations in deeper debt, vice-chairman of extra-parliamentary Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party Juraj Miskov told a press conference on Monday.

"We're calling on Robert Fico to stop putting Slovakia in deeper debt to the detriment of future generations. If he means to lend money to Greece, let him try to collect it from the current generation, from his voters, for example," sad Miskov.

SaS is ready to help Fico out by providing him with a red collection box with the inscription '€150, Greece', as this is the sum that every Slovak citizen will have to chip in for the eurozone's assistance to Greece.

"As part of his election campaign, Fico is touring Slovakia. He could stop outside a church or pub and try to collect money from his voters, €150 each," said Miskov.

He added that Fico "has lied to people yet again" when it comes to the issue of resolving Greece's woes. At first, he vowed not to sign a blank cheque for Greece, but soon afterwards he gave this the nod at talks in Brussels.

Eurozone countries and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) should provide a loan to Greece totalling €110 billion. Of this sum, Slovakia is set to provide €816 million.
