Bratislava, December 4 (TASR) - Slovakia's strongest political party Smer-SD is scheduled to hold two meetings this coming weekend. The first is planned for Saturday night, when the party's executive will discuss the party's annual convention marking the 10th anniversary of the party on Sunday, party spokesperson Katarina Klizanova Rysova said on Friday.
The Saturday event, too, will witness discussions on current political developments and an assessment of the recent elections to regional authorities, in which Smer-supported candidates won throughout the country (with the exception of Bratislava region).
Some 2,000 delegates and guests have been booked to attend the event on Sundy. Among the guests will be Czech Social Democrat (CSSD) chief Jiri Paroubek and Austrian Chancellor Werner Fayman, chairman of the Austrian SPO socialist party. Along with Premier Robert Fico, both Paroubek and Fayman will deliver addresses.
"We are thrilled to see that major leaders of European socialist parties have also sent their greetings. The convention will also feature a 10-minute film on the formation of the party," said the spokesman.
