Wheel of Salary Turns Out Into Highlight of SaS Election Campaign

Zvolen, May 6 (TASR) - The so-called wheel of salary – designed for people to calculate what their net income would be if the party's deduction bonus scheme is introduced – proved to be the highlight of Thursday's campaign stop of Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) in Zvolen (Banska Bystrica region).

SaS, led by Richard Sulik (former advisor to Finance Minister Jan Pociatek/Smer-SD), hopes that the deduction bonus, which would impact tax deductibles and other taxation items, will be introduced after the June 12 election. The bonus should result in considerably higher incomes for families with low and medium earnings.

"Together with my husband we earn about €900. According to this wheel, the deduction bonus would give us some €150 more on a monthly basis, but I don't believe that. It seems to be unreal," a 40-year-old woman told TASR. She added that she likes SaS's election platform, but she's undecided as to who to vote for.

On the other hand, a 47-year-old businessman who spoke to TASR has already made up his mind. "I like their (SaS) programme the most. I'm a right-winger at heart, and there's never enough right-wing parties out there," Marian said. He added that SDKU-DS that he voted for in the past no longer represents a right-wing party.

At SaS election campaign meetings, children alongside pensioners stood in queues for balloons marked with the SaS logo. Beer, cola and sausages were dispensed for free, resulting in some visitors waiting in line-ups two or three times.

SaS' election campaign will involve party representatives visiting more than 500 towns and villages all across Slovakia. The campaign is based on spontaneous communication with people.
