JAC Motors in Talks With Slovakia About Investment

Bratislava, May 4 (TASR) - Another foreign-owned car-maker is looking to invest in Slovakia, with Chinese company JAC Motors declaring interest in building a factory in the country during the EXPO Shanghai 2010 exhibition in China.

JAC Motors regional director David Wang confirmed that he is in talks with Slovak officials about terms and conditions.

He said that he is undaunted by competition in Slovakia from PSA-Peugeot Citroen, KIA Motors and Volkswagen, who have all invested in western Slovakia. "Like all Chinese car-makers heading for the European marketplace, our company will set off in that direction as well," he said.

Wang wouldn't specify the amount of investment planned except to say that it will concern passenger cars and vans.

Foreign investment promotion agency SARIO and the Economy Ministry are providing the Chinese company with information concerning the state aid available and consulting services during start-up activities.
