Pociatek: Slovakia to Provide €816 million of Greece Rescue Package

Brussels, May 3 (TASR-correspondent) - Slovakia is expected to lend €816 million to Greece over the next three years under the €80-billion loan eurozone rescue package sealed on Sunday, said Finance Minister Jan Pociatek after the eurozone countries approved the bailout plan. Slovakia is set to loan Greece €306 million this year.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has agreed to chip in with another €30 billion over the three years.

The above eurozone decision is subject to the approval of respective national parliaments, with the Slovak Parliament only deciding on the matter after the June 12 elections.

This means that Slovakia will not be among the first countries set to lend the initial tranche for 2010 by May 19, according to the minister, who refused to name the countries concerned.

"The terms and conditions under which the loan is to be extended have been fixed at extensive negotiations between the IMF, the European Central Bank and the European Commission. The recovery programme will bring pressure to bear on the Greek Government ... to carry out reforms helping the country consolidate its public finances. If duly implemented, I'm confident of the programme's viability," said Pociatek.
