HZDS: Upgrade of Transport Infrastructure One of Our Priorities

Bratislava, April 29 (TASR) - Speedier construction and the upgrading of transport infrastructure aimed at fully linking Bratislava and Kosice by motorway by 2013 are among the transport-related priorities with which the co-governing LS-HZDS party aims to seek voter-support in the general election due in June, party candidate Jozef Pavuk told a press conference on Thursday.

Pavuk, who is in charge of HZDS's programme in the area of transport, added that not only motorways but also lower-ranked roads, which he said are in abysmal condition, will be brought into the foreground by HZDS. In addition, the party opposes the introduction of an e-toll system on personal vehicles.

As regards railway transport, HZDS aims to preserve the state's dominant position in Slovak rail companies. In addition, the party advocates the construction of a broad-gauge railway across Slovakia that should aid the country's social and economic development.
