Bratislava, April 28 (TASR) - Prime Minister Robert Fico, who on Wednesday visited one of Slovakia's main prisons in Leopoldov (Trnava region), was interested mainly in the work that prisoners carry out.
"The entire country is under pressure from the economic crisis, and we must look for ways to save," Fico told TASR, adding that while in Leopoldov he asked how to reduce costs for prisoners and about opportunities to engage them in work. "So that they will earn for themselves and reduce expenses related to their stay in this facility," said Fico.
"I'm pleased that the employment rate (in the prison) is relatively high. It's necessary for these people to do something, because if they don't they may cause problems," said the premier.
