Bratislava, April 27 (TASR) - Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak, addressing the 11th annual foreign-policy review conference at hotel Devin on Tuesday, stressed the importance of co-operation between Slovakia and Russia.
The reasons for Slovakia's pragmatic co-operation with Russia are legion, as the European Union and NATO of which Slovakia is a member are also interested in working with Moscow in tackling many common challenges, according to Lajcak at the event organised by the Slovak Foreign Policy Association in conjunction with Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
For Slovakia, according to its foreign policy, it is now important to establish ties between its new government and those of the Czech Republic and Hungary emerging this year as soon as possible.
He also mentioned Slovakia's backing for the further enlargement of the European Union and NATO – to include countries of the Western Balkans. He also spoke in positive terms about the Lisbon Treaty and support for the philosophy of EU Strategy 2020 aimed at leading the EU out of the crisis.
