Vazny: Opposition Attacks Against PPP Are Demagogy and Hypocrisy

Bratislava, April 27 (TASR) - Attacks made by representatives of the Christian Democrats (KDH) and SDKU-DS against private-public partnership (PPP) projects are hypocritical and don't offer any solutions for motorway construction, said Transport Minister Lubomir Vazny on Tuesday, adding that the opposition criticism is only part of the election fight, an attempt to frighten voters and demagogy.
"I'm surprised at the depths of nonsense that they've plunged," said Vazny, adding that the Opposition only cares about gaining powers. According to Vazny, it will be possible to connect the west and east of Slovakia by the year 2014 thanks to PPP projects, while this would only be possible in 2020 or 2015 by other means.
Vazny stressed that the first PPP package, which includes the construction of certain D1 motorway sections, is the biggest project ever carried out in Slovakia. "This is construction work that neither SDKU-DS nor KDH dared to begin when they were in a coalition," he claimed.
The Opposition said on Tuesday that if Robert Fico's Government doesn't halt the first PPP package of motorway construction by Friday (April 30), it will file a criminal complaint against Fico, Vazny and Finance Minister Jan Pociatek.
