"Potential targets of terrorist attacks are mainly sites frequently visited by tourists in New Delhi, the capital city of India," said the ministry's press department.

Among other potential targets attractive to terrorist groups are shopping centres such as Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Greater Kailash, Karol Bagh, Mehrauli and Sarojini Nagar, which have already seen bomb attacks in the past.

There is information that terrorists are planning attacks in New Delhi. The U.S. embassy in India has stated that in the past they have targeted sites frequented by American citizens or tourists from the West. A similar warning to tourists has also been issued by Australia.
