Bratislava, April 16 (TASR) - Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic will attend Polish President Lech Kaczynski's funeral in Krakow notwithstanding the closure of Slovakia's airspace that has been in place since Friday at 3 p.m., TASR was told by President's spokesman Marek Trubac on Friday.
If necessary, Gasparovic will travel for the funeral by car, said Trubac.
"For the time being, a flight to nearby Katowice is planned, and from there (to Krakow) by car. If it isn't possible to be transported by air, Mr. President will travel by car," said Trubac. Krakow is some 300 kilometres from Bratislava.
On Friday afternoon it was still unclear whether the funeral will take place on Sunday or be postponed to one of the following days. "Mr. President will take part in the funeral, even if the Polish side decides to delay the date of the state funeral," added Trubac.
