Real Estate Analyst Looks for Better Times in Sector This Year

Bratislava, April 15 (TASR) - RE/MAX Slovakia real estate agency regional director Richard Chury said on Thurday he expects property sales and rentals to go up by 15 percent in the country this year.

Property market levelled off in August and the transactions have been on the rise since then, especially older homes and property without dwellings.

New higher-class structures worth over €200,000, of which there is a surfeit in the capital, have remained problematic this year. On the other hand, in short supply are 'fast-moving flats' – namely those with a smaller area of up to 70 square meters, which are curretly in high demand.

According to Chury, the crisis-triggered slump dating back to 2008 has also brought benefits: first of all, the property market was cleansed of self-styled brokers, as many (about 40 percent) estate agencies went out of business and the only ones surviving on the market have shown quality and professionalism.
