Volkswagen's Plant in Bratislava Produced Its Millionth SUV

Bratislava, April 15 (TASR) - Car-manufacturer Volkswagen Slovakia produced its millionth sport-utility vehicle (SUV) on Thursday, company spokesman Vladimir Machalik informed on the same day.
SUVs have represented about 40 percent of the company's production since 1991, he added.
Production of Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne, which are both in the SUV category, were launched in 2002 and the Audi Q7 followed in 2007.
Production of the New Small Family line is expected to be opened in 2011 and will require investments of some €308 million. After the launch, Volkswagen Bratislava's annual production capacity will increase to 400,000 vehicles. The expansion plans which will create another 1,500 jobs to add to the more than 7,000 it has currently at its Devinska Nova Ves.
