Bratislava, April 15 (TASR) - To get out of the economic crisis that has wrought an increase in unemployment and worsening of living standards, the state has not only to maintain existing jobs but also support the creation of new ones, LS-HZDS vice-chair and Labour Ministry State Secretary Peter Sika said at a party press conference on Thursday.
"We want to achieve this via lowering the deduction burden. We'll get the financial resources from speeding up unified collecting of taxes, tariffs and deductions," said Sika, adding that the current tax bonus would be maintained, as it supports families of employed people.
LS-HZDS also wants to focus on young families. "We want to increase parent benefits, as the family is the basic core of society. Our goal is having parent benefits at €33 at the end of the (coming) electoral term in 2014," said Sika.
Slovakia needs to be concerned about its low population growth, noted Sika, therefore the party wants to increase the one-time benefit for first born child to €1,000, the second born to €1,500 and the third born to €2,000. "We want to achieve that family doesn't consider whether to have or not to have child ... society must support families," said Sika.
As well, HZDS promotes the introduction of a regional minimal wage that would reflect economic disparities among Slovakia's regions. "This wage should support investors that would direct their operations to eastern Slovakia, which has relatively high long-term unemployment," added Sika.
