Lawmakers to Finally Decide on Fate of Patriot Act This Month

Bratislava, April 13 (TASR) - Chairman of Parliament Pavol Paska on Tuesday called the next session of the legislature for April 27, rather than in May as had originally been expected.
The session agenda includes 10 points, among which will be a debate and voting on the widely talked-about Patriot Act that was drafted by the co-ruling Slovak National Party but vetoed earlier this year by President Ivan Gasparovic.
Slovakia's head of state is understood to have referred the bill back to Parliament at the request of Prime Minister Robert Fico who cited the need to move back its entry into effect from April to September in order to allow schools more time for preparation for it.
