Stefanov Denies Construction Ministry Paid Twice for Single Website

Bratislava, December 1 (TASR) - Construction and Regional Development Minister Igor Stefanov on Tuesday rejected the statement made by M.R. Stefanik Conservative Institute (KI) that the ministry has paid twice in a public procurement for one website - and to two companies, respectively.
"It's not true," Stefanov said at a press conference, held in response to the KI monitoring. According to KI, the Construction and Regional Development Ministry had the most expensive public procurement for the website operating programmes (OP) of all ministries.
Stefanov said in his defence that the Construction Ministry maintained the internet site www.strukturalnefondy.sk in the previous programme period of 2004-2006. Later in 2006, during the preparation of a new document on drawing European funds within the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRR) for 2007-2013, it turned out that a broader scope of information was needed for European funds applicants.
To this end, the ministry contractually established the portal www.nsrr.sk for a six-month period. After the contract expired, the ministry chose to redesign www.nsrr.sk, while cancelling the page www.strukturalnefondy.sk. "Hence, only one page remained in existence to secure communication (with European Union funding applicants) for the previous and current programme period. I repeat: we haven't paid for one website twice," Stefanov said.
