Bratislava, April 8 (TASR) - Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak on Thursday left for a two-day working visit to Kosovo, ministry spokesman Peter Stano told TASR on the same day.
Lajcak's trip to Pristina is part of Slovakia's activities in the Western Balkans, a region that it is among Slovakia's foreign-policy priorities.
"Slovakia is a long-term active participant in international processes in the Balkans aimed at securing stability. Slovakia's stance towards the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo is defined by a parliamentary resolution [condemning the move - ed. note]. At the same time, we want to resolve practical issues pertaining to the lives of ordinary people," said Lajcak before leaving for Pristina.
According to the ministry, evidence for Slovakia's engagement in Kosovo can be seen in its provision of development aid and its participation in the international KFOR and EULEX missions.
In Pristina, Lajcak is set to meet Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) head Lamberto Zannier, EU Special Representative for Kosovo Pieter Feith, the commanders of the KFOR and EULEX missions and local representatives. He will also ceremonially open a local television studio funded by SlovakAid.
The Slovak minister is further scheduled to announce the Government's decision to accept documents issued by the Kosovo authorities for identification purposes.
