Slovak and Russians Sign Agreement During Medvedev's Visit

Bratislava, April 7 (TASR) - Slovak and Russian officials on Wednesday signed a number of bilateral agreements and business deals during Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Slovakia.
Slovak Interior Minister Robert Kalinak signed a co-operation agreement on fighting drug-trafficking with Russia's narcotics control chief Victor Ivanov and a protocol on the implementation of an agreement between the European Union and Russia on repatriation with Russia's Federal Migration Service head Konstantin Romadanovsky.
Under a memorandum of understanding signed by Slovak Economy Minister Lubomir Jahnatek and Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko, a science-research joint venture will be set up at Slovakia's Cyclotrone Centre featuring cutting-edge technologies that should be applied in various areas, especially in healthcare. Another memorandum of understanding concerns co-operation in the natural gas industry.
Slovak electricity generator Slovenske Elektrarne and Russian corporation TVEL signed a contract on supplying nuclear fuel to the Mochovce nuclear power plant (Nitra region). Rail-wagon manufacturer Tatravagonka and Russian Railways will co-operate in manufacturing freight trains.
Three new private Slovak-Russian companies should invest €100 million in Slovakia.
