Number of Companies With Illegally Employed People Grows

Bratislava, April 6 (TASR) - The number of companies employing people illegally has gone up nearly 14 percent in the last six months of 2009, states Labour Ministry in its report published on Tuesday.
While in the same period of 2008, there were 188 companies with illegally employed people in Slovakia, in 2009 the number grew to 214, with Prievidza district (Trencin region) having a particularly high incidence, according to the Labour Office.
As many as 768 people were discovered working illegally in 2009. In most cases, the employers broke the law by not registering employees to social insurer Socialna Poistovna. The checks also discovered people employed without a valid contract.
