Presidents Gasparovic and Medvedev to Sign Joint Declaration

Bratislava, April 3 (TASR) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will arrive to Slovakia for a two-day visit on April 6, TASR learned from the Slovak President's spokesman Marek Trubac on Saturday.

Along with the Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic, Medvedev will sign a joint declaration, marking the 65th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe and Slovak-Russian friendly relations.

Also, eight Slovak-Russian intergovernmental and trade treaties will be signed, including a treaty to lay the groundwork for co-operation in combating the narcotics sale.

The Russian President and his wife Svetlana will be accompanied by the Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergei Lavrov, Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov, Energy Minister Sergei Smatko along with other representatives of the Russian state institutions and companies.

Medvedev will meet with the Slovak President as well as with Slovak Premier Robert Fico and Parliamentary Chairman Pavol Paska. The Presidents of the two countries will discuss the international policies, the relations between the Russian Federation, EU and NATO, and issues regarding security, energy, transport and military-technical co-operation.
