Slovakia's Roman Catholics Follow Stations of the Cross on Good Friday

Bratislava, April 2 (TASR) - Roman Catholics in Slovakia embarked on Stations of the Cross processions in churches and to hill-top crosses on Good Friday to commemorate Christ's Passion.

A Way of the Cross procession led by archbishop of Bratislava Stanislav Zvolensky began in Bratislava's St. Martin's Cathedral in the morning.

In the afternoon, Zvolensky officiated at ceremonies marking Jesus's suffering and death. A Way of Sorrows walk will also take place across the capital's borough of Petrzalka in the evening.

Ceremonies are also being held in towns throughout Slovakia, most notably in Banska Bystrica, Zilina and Presov.

In Presov, around 50 actors donned costumes to re-enact the story of Jesus's torture and crucifixion. The event, which took place in the town's pedestrian zone, was watched by around 4,000 people.
