Bratislava, March 30 (TASR) - Everyone should be proud of their sexual orientation and gender identity, said project manager of the Rainbow PRIDE parade of gays and lesbians Robert Furiel at a press conference on Tuesday.
"Diversity is a gift, sexual orientations and gender identity are natural, inborn and we can't change them deliberately," said Furiel. He stressed that the Rainbow PRIDE Bratislava 2010 parade on May 22 won't only be an event for gays and lesbians, but will be open to the whole of Slovak society and all people who identify themselves with the idea of human rights and an open society.
According to the project manager, the event should be a quiet and cheerful march through the city along with a concert.
"The parade will be preceded by a week of cultural, public and community accompanying events," said PR manager of Rainbow PRIDE Bratislava 2010 Romana Schlesingerova.
The parade will set off from Hviezdoslav Square through Bratislava's pedestrian zone, where the concert will also take place. "All the bands and supporters will perform at the event for free," added Schlesingerova.
More than 1,500 people from the gay-lesbian community, non-governmental sector and other groups have already expressed their support for the event, including actors such as Elena Podzamska, Andy Hryc and Zuzana Fialova.
