Slowed Internet Site Complicates Electronic Filing of Tax Declarations

Bratislava, March 29 (TASR) - With only days to go before the deadline on filing the tax declarations, the internet website of the Slovak Tax Directorate is slightly hobbled, which is creating problems for taxpayers hoping to file an electronic tax declaration.

According to the Directorate officials, the situation is already being dealt with.

"The internet portal has been slowed down or inaccessible due to tens of thousands of users logging in to the system at the same time. Along with the application provider, the Tax Directorate is working round the clock to resolve the problem. Our servers have been beefed up fourfold as of late," DR spokesman Miroslav Dobak told TASR.

Taxpayers need to file their tax declarations for 2009 by March 31. The Tax Directorate's portal, however, represents the only internet website allowing people to file their declaration electronically.
