Bratislava, March 28 (TASR) - The economic crisis in Slovakia has meant that the volume of separated waste fell by 26 percent in 2009, while its processing was down 33 percent.
Around 211,000 tonnes of waste were separated with the support of the Slovak Recycling Fund (RF) and more than 184,000 tonnes were processed last year.
According to RF board chairman Juraj Dlhopolcek, the Fund approved almost €25.34 million for 2009 and has provided €140 million to towns and villages during the eight years of its existence.
RF's incomes last year reached less than €14.18 million, which is €4.34 million less than in 2008. The reduced incomes concerned mainly waste-packaging, used tyres and waste oils.
