Poprad, November 30 (TASR) - Inhabitants of the Zemplin area (Kosice region), who lost the opportunity to board regular flights from Kosice to British Islands following the bankruptcy of SkyEurope Airlines, will be able to fly to destinations such as London, Manchester and Dublin again, director of the Poprad-Tatry Airport Ivana Herkelova told TASR on Monday.
Until September, these lines were operated by now-defunct Sky Europe. As of December 1, flights between Slovakia and the United Kingdom will be restored from the Poprad-Tatry Airport.
"We're glad that we've managed to fill the gap on the market, and we'll able to provide opportunities to travel to destinations that East Slovaks had been used to for years," said Herkelova.
Flights from Poprad to Manchester will run Tuesdays and Thursdays, with flights to London Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Regular flights to Dublin will operate Saturdays.
Herkelova added that the Poprad-Tatry Airport - which is located in the highest altitude in Central Europe - features also lines to Brussels, Warsaw, Bologna and Bratislava, all operated by Danube Wings.
