Bratislava, March 28 (TASR) - More than €23 million has been collected in road tolls in the period of nearly three months during which the toll system has been running, TASR was told on Sunday by Lenka Lendacka from SkyToll, the company that runs the system.
Electronic tolls on Slovak motorways, highways and first-class roads were introduced for vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes on January 1.
According to SkyToll and the National Highway Company (NDS), higher amounts have been collected especially in recent weeks on first-class roads, which were excluded from toll-duty on January 14 for 47 days because shortcomings in the system had to be dealt with.
NDS director Igor Choma said that more money has been collected over the past week than at any other time since the tolls were introduced.
