Miklos: Fico More Worried About SDKU Slogan Than Unemployment

Bratislava, March 25 (TASR) - The opposition SDKU-DS party continued on Thursday to counter Premier Robert Fico's recent claims that its election-billboard slogan was stolen from the Czech Communist Party's motto from 2008 by saying that SDKU's election programme was truly drawn up based on what it says: 'For the People and About People'.

Speaking on behalf of SDKU, vice-chairman Ivan Miklos bemoaned the fact that Fico is more worried about billboard slogans than rampant unemployment, corruption, shoddy public services - especially for the middle class, and the situation in which young families have found themselves.

According to Miklos, SDKU addresses these problems in its programme, with 140 specific measures designed to change the situation. "It's sad that Premier Robert Fico should be bothered about what an opposition party writes on its billboards instead of doubled unemployment growth", he stated.

Election leader Iveta Radicova weighed in by saying that the programme rests on several pillars - economic growth and employment, improvements in living standards, especially those of the middle class, the restoration of justice, the rule of law as well as trust in politicians and state institutions.

According to Radicova, the programme was partly inspired by ideas from 420 people who sent in over a thousand different proposals.
