Stara Lubovna, March 24 (TASR) - If tourism really started to thrive in Slovakia, it would have the potential to employ 200,000 people, which is a great challenge, said Slovak Culture Minister Marek Madaric (Smer-SD) after the Government session in Stara Lubovna (Presov region) on Wednesday.
"We're aware of the great potential of tourism, as well as of its problems. We need to continue to pass well-thought-out measures," said Madaric. The Culture Ministry will take over the tourism agenda as of July 1 2010, with its name amended to the Culture and Tourism Ministry.
"Currently, when the ministry doesn't have the power - neither de jure, nor de facto - we need to think about how it will take charge of this sector," added the minister.
The Government dealt with issues relating to tourism at its session in Stara Lubovna on Wednesday, allocating €2.866 million to districts in the region for their development.
