Slota: Slovak Army Has to Improve, as Hungary May Attack

Bratislava, March 23 (TASR) - The Slovak National Party (SNS) wants to see the combat-readiness of the Slovak army improved. According to SNS leader Jan Slota, the national army is almost completely unready in this respect at the moment.
Slota was speaking to journalists on Tuesday, saying that Slovakia has reason to be worried, as "Hungary is planning on military invasion in neighbouring countries," and alter the borders set by the Treaty of Trianon.
"The second most popular (Hungarian political) party Jobbik presents itself in a way that they plan to use military power to change the borders in countries around," said Slota, pointing to the fact that Jobbik candidate Tamas Gaudi Nagy has recently supported the idea of beefing up the Hungarian army.
Slota quoted Nagy as saying, "if necessary ... borders could be modified via referendum ... for which we're going to need a strong army". Slota called Nagy a "danger", although his party has not made it to Parliament yet. "But what if he later becomes defence minister?" pondered Slota, adding that Hungary in its territorial ambitions "has picked the Kosovar way to go".
The SNS leader also said he was confident that the Hungarian army "has been busy training how to cross rivers", while nobody has been paying attention to this. "There are dozens, hundreds of members of Hungarian Intelligence in southern Slovakia, and as if no-one has noticed," said Slota.
Slota underlined that Slovakia's military forces are "weak now", and its only functioning subject is the 5th Special Tasks regiment in Zilina.
