Freso Plans Saving For Bratislava Region

Bratislava, November 29 (TASR) - First steps of the new Bratislava region governor Pavol Freso (SDKU-DS, KDH, SMK, OKS and SaS) in his office will be saving - in order not to burden the region with more debts; introduction of his team and continual take-over of the office, he said for TASR early on Sunday.

The SDKU-DS MP defeated Vladimir Bajan (independent with support of Smer-SD, LS-HZDS, SZS and HZD) in the second, run-off round of the higher territorial units (VUC) elections in Bratislava region, receiving 60.5 percent of votes, while Bajan received 39.49 percent.

Freso considers it to be his main priority to build up a stronger confidence in the Bratislava regional authorities. Not less important is the increase of people's knowledge about what these authorities do for them.

In response to TASR's question whether he will give up his seat in Parliament, Freso said he will give up one of the salaries. Everything else will depend on how he can be useful in Bratislava region and in politics.

In connection with the planned construction of a multi-function hall in Bratislava district of Petrzalka, Freso said that an audit needs to be done. "I will publish the results of the audit, everybody will understand them," he said adding that due to several indications an audit is necessary.

The new Bratislava region governor also presented his plans to create an advisory body from local governance representatives and Members of Regional Parliament (MRPs). As far as coalition Smer-SD MRPs are concerned, Freso stated that if they are willing to join the work, a chance will certainly be there.

Freso also announced possible changes in the Bratislava region office. "Who is working and their job makes sense will stay, but I will monitor very carefully and ask for an explanation how it is possible that we have increased the number of our employees from 120 to 200 without adding any competencies," he concluded.
