Zilina, November 29 (TASR) - The annual convention of the Slovak National Party on Sunday proves that the co-ruling party is unequivocally united, said SNS chairman Jan Slota after delegates expressed confidence in him during a vote on his leadership.
"I'm delighted to learn that we have shown our coalition partners and the Opposition that SNS is united and strong ... that it is rock-solid. This may put an end to various rumours about different platforms inside the party," Slota told reporters. The rumours are totally untrue, according to the SNS leader, who went on to say SNS has been the victim of a disinformation campaign.
Deputy chair Anna Belousovova stressed that months prior to parliamentary elections (set for June 2010) there are many indications of what Slovakia's post-election development will be next year. "SNS is of the opinion that the ruling coalition of Smer-SD, SNS, and LS-HZDS has proved itself fit, having mastered the running of Slovakia amid a difficult economic crisis.
Regarding programme priorities, she said that the party replaced the symbolic slogan of SNS, where S stands for a sovereign nation based on which a well-functioning state is evolving; N stands for new economy, which will have to react to the economic crisis by restructuring and orientation so that knowledge society is more reflected in the economics; and the last S is for a stable and strong family that represents security for everyone.
