Bratislava, March 22 (TASR) - Slovak Economy Minister Lubomir Jahnatek on Monday met representatives of China-based Shanghai Construction Group (SCG) led by SCG vice-president Tong Ji Sheng, the ministry's press department announced on its website on the same day.
"SCG management enquired about possibilities of constructing highways via projects of public-private partnerships (PPP), to which it (SCG) is able to provide capital," according to the website.
Jahnatek noted at the meeting that Slovakia is creating appropriate conditions for all investors, including entities involved in construction business. He pointed to Slovakia's geographical location, which, he said, many investors use as a starting point for expansion throughout the continent.
Jahnatek also stressed that the Government embraces all new offers for participation in PPP projects, as it is committed to expansion of the country's highway network.
Tong praised SCG's experience in the construction sector that spans 40 years, while it also possesses technologies to construct skyscrapers higher than 400 metres.
According to the ministry, the turnover of mutual trade between Slovakia and China stood at €2.8 billion in 2009, with imports into Slovakia accounting for €2.25 billion.
