Oravec: Deduction Reform a Diffucult Task but Desirable

Bratislava, March 20 (TASR) - One of the options for making Slovakia's entrepreneurial sector more attractive is a principled reform of contributions, which has been called for by entrepreneurs for years, president of the Association of Slovak Entrepreneurs (ZPS) Jan Oravec has told TASR.

"After the tax reform with the flat tax introduction was carried out, we can imagine than something similar would be made with the deduction system. The flat tax tidied up ... it cancelled the abundance of rates and introduced one rate, through which it simplified the whole system and reduced the tax burden," he said.

"It's a matter of principle, far more difficult than the tax reform, as the social and deduction system is far more complicated than the tax system. At the same time, however, it's a vitally important matter," said Oravec. He stressed that the deduction reform would reduce costs for entrepreneurs and increase Slovakia's competitiveness.

The merger of tax and deduction collection as of 2014, as approved by the Government more than a year ago, is a step in good direction but is not enough, added Oravec.
