Beblavy: Tunnelling and Clientelism in Place in Revuca's Social Enterprise

Bratislava, March 19 (TASR) - An audit carried out by the European Commission (EC) has revealed that tunnelling of public money and clientelism are in place in the 'Revucky socialny podnik' social enterprise in Revuca (Banska Bystrica region), SDKU-DS MP candidate Miroslav Beblavy told TASR on Friday.
"They (the auditors) uncovered several problems in public procurement and cases of tunnelling and clientelism. The Commission said that the director of the social enterprise is at the same time a member of the supplier's management and is also associated with the customer, whom he sells products underprice," said Beblavy.
The head of the enterprise is involved in the management of Gemstav, which rents plots to the Revucky socialny podnik. He is also associated with Golden Woods, which is the main customer of the social enterprise.
"If the price (at which Golden Woods purchases the products) had been adjusted to the market price, the project would have potentially generated significantly higher receipts that would have to be returned to the European Social Fund based on the project contract," reads EC's statement.
A social enterprise is allowed to gain receipts reaching a certain level, while the rest has to be transferred to the European Social Fund. "Tunnelling of the public finance is thus taking place," said Beblavy.
The Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Ministry reacted by saying that it is committed to keep secrecy on the EU document. "Beblavy is taking advantage of the fact that he isn't bound by those rules," ministry spokesman Michal Stuska told TASR.
