Sadiki Facing Accusations of Serious Drugs Crimes

Bratislava, March 19 (TASR) - Slovakia's prosecution authorities said on Friday that Kosovan Albanian Baki Sadiki, who is a resident of Slovakia and is currently in hiding, is suspected of committing an exceptionally serious crime concerning the illegal production of narcotic and psychotropic substances and toxic precursors, as well as holding them and drug-trafficking.

If convicted, Sadiki could go to prison for 20-25 years, or be given a life sentence.

According to information disclosed at a news conference by Prosecutor-General Dobroslav Trnka, Sadiki and other accused, all members of an organised group, have been involved in crimes related to heroin-dealing since at least 2007.

Heroin in a total of six consignments, hidden in sports shoes, was being smuggled from Turkey to Poland, and later - beginning in 2008 - was being transported to the Slovak town of Topolcany (Nitra region) by a unspecified transport company. One consignment contained around 20 kilograms of heroin.

Sadiki has already been reported by the media as being involved in the drug-trafficking business. Former Justice Minister Daniel Lipsic (KDH) has alleged in the past that Sadiki is an acquaintance of Stefan Harabin, who succeeded Lipsic as minister before becoming Supreme Court Chairman. Harabin denies the allegations, claiming that he has no connection to Sadiki at all.
