Jahnatek: Slovakia Could Co-operate With Slovenia in Energy Sector

Bratislava, March 16 (TASR) - According to Economy Minister Lubomir Jahnatek, who is currently accompanying Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic on his visit to Slovenia, Slovakia could engage in excellent co-operation with Slovenia mainly in the spheres of infrastructure, tunnels and motorway development, as well as in the energy sector.

According to Jahnatek, the two countries should concentrate on expanding co-operation in the electronics industry and energy, in which ambitious projects are being developed by the Slovenian electronics industry association. The projects mainly concern security and increasing the efficiency of energy systems, as well as the sphere of renewable energy sources.

"Apart from energy we also have potential in projects concerning infrastructure development and the modernisation of railway systems," said Jahnatek.

The Economy Ministry also told TASR that several Slovak companies are already active in Slovenia in the energy and construction sectors, and have received good reviews.

According to the ministry, Slovak exports to Slovenia reached €250.4 million in December 2009, while imports from Slovenia stood at €156.1 million.
