Bratislava, March 16 (TASR) - The Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) on Tuesday launched for public discussion a 'Strategy for the Development of the Slovak Nation to 2030', which has been drawn up by the science and research group over the past four years.
SAV Economic Institute chief Milan Sikula told reporters that SAV expects to receive comments on the strategy, which was done on the Government's behalf for a fee of €900,000, from various bodies, business associations and the public.
SAV head Jaromir Pastorek pointed out that the work, which involved years of effort by 160 experts, is a scientific analysis of the state of Slovakia that outlines the strategic directions of its development.
Pastorek stressed that SAV is an apolitical organisation, and that by implication the work should be deemed as such. He conceded that it was commissioned by the current Government and is being appropriated by the strongest governing party Smer-SD as part of its election programme. He stressed, however, that politicians didn't interfere in its elaboration nor do they agree with many of the expert opinions presented in the documents.
