Fico: It'd Be Good to Jam-pack One Day with Various Elections in Future

Bratislava, November 28 (TASR) - The Coalition and Opposition should agree on arranging various elections on the same date in the future, Prime Minister Robert Fico said after casting his vote in the second round of the Higher Territorial Unit (VUCs) election in Bratislava's borough of Karlova Ves on Saturday.

Fico noted that 2014 will be jam-packed with several elections - the parliamentary elections, European Parliament elections, presidential elections and municipal elections.

"It'll be good, if the Opposition meets with the Coalition as early as before the parliamentary elections (scheduled for June 2010), and after the elections the new opposition with the new coalition," said Fico, adding that the issue shouldn't be put off.

In the same breath, the premier suggested the general elections in 2014 to be organised on the date of the EP elections. The system of the individual elections shouldn't be changed, however, stressed Fico.

Turning to more current issues, the prime minister announced that he is ready to invite all governors elected in the 2009 VUC elections to his office next week. "I want to congratulate them personally, and talk about their plans and co-operation between the Government and the VUCs," added Fico.
