Ubla Border Crossing to Open for Motor Vehicles Sunday Morning

Ubla, November 28 (TASR) - Motor vehicles will be again allowed to cross the Slovak-Ukrainian border at the Ubla (Presov region) crossing as of Sunday 7 a.m., spokesperson of the Border Police Directorate in Sobrance (Kosice region) Agnesa Kopernicka told TASR on Saturday.

The spokesperson added that the ban still holds for pedestrians, however.

The police decided on relaxation of the measures at the border with Ukraine following consultations with Slovakia's chief hygienist Ivan Rovny, who said that the situation concerning the flu epidemic in Ukraine has stabilised, and no persons with symptoms of the disease have been registered on the border for several days.

Kopernicka added that physicians were recalled from the border crossings, but police and customs officers continue to use protective face masks and disposable gloves. Any person coming from Ukraine with symptoms of a respiratory disease will be denied entry to Slovakia in line with the Schengen Borders Code, added the border police spokesperson.
