Ljubljana, March 15 (TASR)- Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic, attending a bilateral business forum on the second day of his three-day official visit to Slovenia on Monday, called for more co-operation between economic representatives and entrepreneurs of the two countries against the backdrop of the global economic crisis.
According to the president, Slovakia is interested in co-operation with Slovenia in such areas as the electrical-engineering and energy industries, where work on specific plans is already in progress. Under contemplation, among other things, are the use of renewable energy sources and an increase in energy efficiency.
Speaking to over twenty Slovak and Slovenian entrepreneurs, the Slovak head-of-state noted a similarity in the two countries' economies in their pro-export orientation coupled with limited energy sources and tiny markets, causing sensitivity to global economic movements and crises.
Following up on a forum overseen by both premiers during Slovenian Premier Borut Pahor's visit to Slovakia in April 2009, this year's event is taking place under the aegis of both heads of state - Gasparovic and Slovenia's Danilo Turk.
