Bratislava, March 13 (TASR) - Civil association People Against Racism said on Saturday it would stage a protest rally called 'No More Silence' against a fascist demonstration organised by supporters of the wartime Slovak Republic on March 14.
The protest rally is supposed to be a response to the marches and celebrations of the wartime state. "Once again we will witness how democracy, freedom of expression and association are abused by the people who want to destroy precisely this democracy and openly claim to be committed to the regime which has thousands of victims on its conscience," said Juraj Kiss, activist with People Against Racism.
"On Sunday Fascism will hit the city streets, as will our protest. We have at all times much more to offer than fascists no matter what guise they put on. Our event will feature a whole array of artists and scientific fraternity, and talented young people," said Peter Getting, co-ordinator of the event.
Sunday's programme will kick off at midday with the opening of the exhibition of drawings by cartoonist Shooty entitled 'In Slovakia (do speak) in Slovak'. Across from the supporters of the wartime Republic on Postova Street, another exhibition by painting artist Martin Piacek will be launched under the title Construction.
